Static Dress - Injury Episode
Move over concept albums, we've got a concept band!
This is a band whose name I've heard for a while but haven't consciously listened to before. It would seem I was missing out, as within minutes it teleported me straight back to the early 2000s post-hardcore scene.
Pharmacy Film, the third track of the album grabbed me immediately with its rhythmic drive, layered guitar riff, and tasty dissonance.
I'm a bit late to it, as the album was released in May… what the…‽ Along with an accompanying Game Boy Advance game‽
I just searched to double check how long ago it was released and found this from Boolin Tunes:
Oh, and as if that wasn’t enough, a brand new GameBoy game was also made available for purchase. “The Place Of No Ends” acts as chapter II in the band’s ongoing saga
Jack Walker
Wow. Move over concept albums, we've got a concept band! One storyline through from the beginning, across all their releases including a Game Boy Color game and a Game Boy Advance game. What a thing to find out by accident, when I'm a fan of both post-hardcore and weird game boy stuff!
Anyway, coming back from that surprise tangent, the album's bloody great and I've had it on repeat. If you’re a fan of post-hardcore bands like Hell Is For Heroes, Hundred Reasons, Reuben, Funeral For a Friend, Yourcodenameis:milo etc. then jump right in!
They're on tour playing Europe and the UK this month, and the USA through to the end of the year. Details at staticdress.com
