Cloudkicker - Hold On
Sometimes I hear cool new music before it hits the mainstream, and sometimes I hear it 17 years after it came out. This is the latter.
Cloudkicker makes atmospheric, instrumental prog-/post-/math-rock, and the first fifteen seconds in Hold On–the first track on 2008's The Map is Not the Territory–are a great subversion of expectation:
I'd never heard of Cloudkicker before, but Dysphoria appeared on my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist this week and it grabbed my attention.
I normally put recommendation playlists like that on in the background, and if a track makes me go "ooh!" I tend to delve deeper!
